Complete Aquatic Biosecurity
With HIGH EFFICACY and BROAD SPECTRUM disinfectant
Effective biosecurity measures are crucial for modern fish and shrimp production sites to prevent and control the spread of diseases. Proper selection of a disinfectant is essential for continuous and terminal biosecurity applications. While disinfectants with similar chemistry may appear interchangeable, their performance characteristics can vary significantly in terms of efficacy and toxicity. Therefore, it is vital to choose a disinfectant that has been independently proven to be effective against a broad range of aquaculture pathogens and can work at low temperatures like Zanolyte® AquaCare™. The product ensures optimal biosecurity practices while minimizing any potential harm to aquatic organisms and the environment.
Controlling EHP and WSSV in Shrimp Farm
EHP (Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei) is a microsporidian parasite that can infect shrimp and cause a range of symptoms, including slow growth, reduced appetite, and mortality. The parasite infects the hepatopancreas of shrimp, which is an important organ for digestion and nutrient absorption.
The disease is a major concern for the shrimp farming industry, as it can cause significant economic losses.
EHP was first reported in shrimp farms in Thailand in 2009, and has since been detected in other countries in Southeast Asia, as well as in India, the Middle East, and South America.
While many disinfectants are effective at killing many types of pathogens, including bacteria and viruses, they may not be effective against EHP for several reasons:
1. EHP is an intracellular parasite, meaning that it lives and reproduces inside host cells. This can make it more difficult for disinfectants to reach and kill the parasite.
2. EHP is resistant to some disinfectants, including formalin and iodine.
3. EHP can persist in the environment for long periods of time, even in the absence of a host. This can make it difficult to completely eliminate the parasite from a shrimp farming system.
4. EHP can also develop resistance to disinfectants over time, as has been observed with some other types of pathogens.
Zanolyte® AquaCare™ has been tested and proven to be effective against EHP and White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) infections in shrimp. WSSV is also known to cause white feces in shrimp. WSSV infects the digestive gland and other organs of shrimp, causing a range of symptoms including white feces, lethargy, loss of appetite, and high mortality rates. The virus is highly contagious and can be spread rapidly within shrimp farming systems. It is a major threat to the shrimp aquaculture industry, and outbreaks of the disease can cause significant economic losses.
Enhancing Aquatic Animal Wellness
Aquaculture systems commonly face infections caused by fungi and spores, which can lead to substantial economic losses if not treated. Fungi can infect fish, shellfish, and crustaceans, and result in skin lesions, respiratory distress, and fin rot. Hatcheries and nurseries are especially susceptible to fungal infections due to young and vulnerable animals being at a higher risk. Spore-forming bacteria, like Bacillus spp. and Clostridium spp., can also cause infections, leading to diseases like enteritis, gangrene, and septicaemia in fish and shellfish. Preventing these infections require a meticulous approach to water quality, nutrition, and hygiene, with disinfectant like Zanolyte® AquaCare™ being essential in controlling fungal and bacterial growth in aquaculture systems.
Application Guidelines
Instructions for use of Zanolyte® AquaCare™ should always be followed carefully to ensure safe and effective application. While general guidance can be provided, customers are advised to contact us for specific details on product application, dilution rates, and safety precautions. We can provide comprehensive information on the appropriate usage of Zanolyte® AquaCare™ for various aquaculture applications, taking into consideration factors such as fish or aquatic animal type, pest or disease target, environmental conditions, and local regulations. This includes guidance on product storage, handling, and disposal.
Disinfection of Water Source
Add 2L of Zanolyte® AquaCare™ into every 1000L of fresh water before adding it to the pond or hatchery.
Disinfection of Tanks, Ponds, Nets, Equipment, Well Boats, and various Surfaces
Dilute 1L of Zanolyte® AquaCare™ with 4L of clean water and mix thoroughly. Apply the solution throughout the tank or pond, making sure to cover all surfaces. Let it stand for at least 10 minutes. No rinsing necessary. Immerse the net/equipment in the solution for at least 10 minutes, making sure it is fully submerged.
Disinfecting Feed
Improving feed conversion and preventing the spread of pathogens through contaminated feed are essential in aquaculture. Zanolyte® AquaCare™ can help achieve these goals by disinfecting feed. This disinfectant ensures that feed is free from pathogens, preventing the spread of diseases in the pond. Moreover, using Zanolyte® AquaCare™ prevents feed agglomeration, which ensures that feed can be distributed evenly in the pond. To use, add 2 ml of Zanolyte® AquaCare™ per liter of water to the feed and mix thoroughly.
